In 1962, Charles Whitman married Kathleen Frances Leissner. After marriage the hero of our story returned to military service. He soon became a corporal, however, long to enjoy the new title was not necessary. Soon Whitman was again demoted to the ranks because of love to prohibited gambling. In a Skype interview, writer and English professor, Jo Scott-Coe, shares her experience researching Kathy’s life. Scott-Coe came across her story while writing a book on the religious and cultural context of the UT tower tragedy. Kathy Leissner and Charles Whitman were married for 3 years.
